A Bicycle Ride Across Arkansas!
|
In March 2011, our friend Steve Garufi pedaled his bicycle across Arkansas in 3 1/2 days.
He began at the state line near De Queen and went through the following towns:
Dierks, Glenwood, Hot Springs, Malvern, Sheridan, Pine Bluff, Stuttgart, Forrest City and West Memphis.
We are honored he came through our state!
Now Steve came through as part of his bike across America journey,
in which he rode on behalf of the Smile For a Lifetime Foundation, based in Jonesboro.
We're so glad you survived on the bridge over the Mississippi River to Memphis!
We asked Steve to provide his favorite ten photos while in Arkansas with any comments he would have.
Enjoy them below.
Check out his website about his long journey at

10 Photos Of Steve's Bike Across Arkansas Tour
I made it to the Arkansas state line between the towns of Broken Bow, OK and De Queen, AR.
It had been a long week and a half riding through Texas and Oklahoma, and while I have nothing against those states,
I was so much happier to be in Razorback Country! |
Plenty of hills to climb. This one was west of Dierks, AR on Highway 70. |
Near Glenwood, Arkansas. |
Because of all my riding, I lost a lot of weight. That gave me an excuse to eat pretty much anything I wanted.
Here's a shot of the Dodge's Chicken Store in Hot Springs! |
Upon making it to Hot Springs, I took a day off to celebrate being halfway across the state in Little Rock.
I love the Razorbacks store inside the McCain Mall in North Little Rock. :) |
Dinner wth friends in North Little Rock. |
I'm not kidding you ... I did a lot of eating! :) |
Beautiful wooded scenery between Malvern and Sheridan. |
On the Arkansas Delta. Memphis was a day's worth of cycling away. |
On the pedestrian walk of the I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River.
I had a great time in Arkansas! |
